Social History was founded in 1976 and is not limited by time or location, publishing high-quality and innovative academic works on history. This peer-reviewed journal is published quarterly, encouraging research articles to start over longer periods of time than they do now, and to have the scale ambitions commonly seen in historical sociology, historical geography, and demographics. Case studies, especially when combined with broader considerations, will continue to hold a place in social history.

The establishment of the Journal of Social History aims to promote research and development in the field of social history, providing a platform for academic exchange and sharing through the publication of high-quality academic papers and research results. The founding of this magazine reflects the important position of social history research in the contemporary academic system, as well as scholars' enthusiasm and pursuit for in-depth exploration of issues such as social change, social structure, social organization, and social behavior.
