7月26日傍晚，美國(guó)全國(guó)代表大會(huì)在波士頓正式開(kāi)幕。大會(huì)會(huì)場(chǎng)所在地——波士頓富里特中心一直是NBA老牌勁旅波士頓凱爾特人隊(duì)的主場(chǎng)，現(xiàn)在成為了歡樂(lè)的海洋，成為了全美人2004年總統(tǒng)大選的誓師會(huì)場(chǎng),4353名政要會(huì)聚一堂，正式提名克里和愛(ài)德華茲為總統(tǒng)和副總統(tǒng)候選人，發(fā)動(dòng)“倒布”總攻。以下是前副總統(tǒng)及2000年總統(tǒng)候選人戈?duì)?/a>在大會(huì)上發(fā)表演講。

JohnandIwereelectedtotheUSSenateonthesameday20yearsagoandIhaveworkedcloselywithhimforallthattime.SoIwanttosayapersonalwordaboutJohnKerrytheman.
Heisafriendwhowillstandbyyou.Hiswordishisbond.Hehasadeeppatriotismthatgoesfarbeyondwords.HehasdevotedhislifetomakingAmericaabetterplaceforallofus.HeshoweduncommonheroismonthebattlefieldinVietnam.IwatchedhimshowthatsamecourageontheSenatefloor.Hehadthebestrecordofprotectingtheenvironmentagainstpollutersofanyofmycolleagues-barnone.
Henevershiedawayfromafight,nomatterhowpowerfulthefoe.Hewasneverafraidtotakeondifficultandthanklessissuesthatfewotherswantedtotouch-likeexposingthethreatofnarcoterrorismandtracingthesourcesofterroristfinancing.Hewasoneoftheveryfirstinourpartytotakeontheissueofdrasticdeficitreduction.Hehasdevelopedatoughandthoughtfulplantorestoreoureconomicstrengthandfiscaldiscipline.
Toputitsimply,thoseofuswhohaveworkedwithJohnknowthathehasthecourage,integrityandleadershiptobeatrulygreatPresidentoftheUnitedStates.
Andheshowedwisdominhisveryfirstdecisionastheleaderofourparty-whenhepickedashisrunningmateaninspiringfighterformiddleclassfamiliesandfamiliesstrugglingtoreachthemiddleclass:JohnEdwards.
