Journal of Contemporary Asia is a publication with a long history and great influence, which has always adhered to the principle of quarterly publication. At its inception, the magazine was positioned as a supplement and alternative to the mainstream views on contemporary Asian issues, aiming to provide a new perspective and in-depth discussion space for scholars and researchers in Asia and even globally. The content of this magazine covers a wide range of issues related to the economic, political, and social development of Asia, particularly in areas such as economic development, political economy, agriculture, planning, the working class, people's movements, politics and power, imperialism and imperialism, international financial institutions, environment, and economic history. It not only welcomes articles on internal issues in Asia, but also maintains a strong interest in the development of theories and sciences with global significance, especially in the study of the role of states, class analysis, power, and globalization.

The distinctive feature of the magazine lies in its combination of empirical research and theoretical exploration, encouraging scholars to propose innovative perspectives and methods to deeply analyze the development trends and challenges faced by Asian societies. At the same time, the magazine also emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging experts and scholars from different fields to engage in dialogue and exchange, in order to promote academic progress and knowledge innovation throughout society.
